SxSW 2009

Thu, 12 Mar 2009 - Austin, TX

South by Southwest Interactive and Music in 2009 was an amazing journey full of new and old friends, lots of learning, and serendipitous experiences left and right!

Jeff Pulver, C.C. Chapman, and Steve Hall were the first three folks I ran into on arriving at the Austin Convention Center for SxSWi 2009. C.C. and Steve and I were trying to figure out what the heck was going on here.
Steve Hall of Adrants at a 4-blogger luncheon at Ironworks Barbecue. This was th first pic I took with my Sony Webbie HD, a gift shipped to me overnight from Technorati!
Mountain Dew at ScreenBurn Chris Heuer's Pool 2.0, Krista Neher and Saul Colt
With SxSWi over and the music portion of the festival starting, the hotel lobbies and streets in Austin began to take on a very different, decidedly ungeeky flavor.
With Sloane Berrent, Jon Dingman, Kurt Daradics, and Paige Craig, we leftover/hybrid geeks/music fans took to the streets.
We hit up a crazy Grammy party at the water's edge... Where we met members of Hoyotoho and Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights.
I finagled my way into the official press photography area at the Echo and the Bunnymen show at Stubb's.
DJ Adam Freeland, who was hitting on me... and The Asteroids of the Galaxy Tour, who were not.
After the daytime fun was over, I parted ways with my geeky friends for the last time and dove headfirst into SxSW Music.
Heading down to Red 7, I met up with Year Long Disaster, a band and my old friends from L.A.
As the night drew to a close, so did my relatively long and utterly wonderful first-ever SxSW. I couldn't wait for 2010.
Final shot of SxSW 2009: Room 404 at the Hilton, where "Transpo" SxSlaves chill and rock bands get paid.
